On May 1, 2026, Sharp signed an agreement with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government regarding the promotion of heatstroke prevention measures.

To achieve its vision for Tokyo in the 2050s, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has compiled policies for 2035 under the '2050 Tokyo Strategy.' As part of its efforts to strengthen climate change adaptation, the city is actively promoting initiatives to 'protect lives through heatstroke prevention.'

Sharp offers heat-mitigation products, including the 'Ice Slurry Refrigerator.' Ice slurry is a fluid beverage consisting of a mixture of fine ice and liquid. Upon ingestion, the ice absorbs body heat as it melts, cooling the body from within faster than standard liquids. In addition to conducting ongoing verification of its effects during activities in hot environments, Sharp contributes to heatstroke prevention in companies and schools through services such as equipment rentals.

Under this agreement, Sharp will partner with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote heatstroke prevention initiatives for citizens. As an initial project, the company will hold a hands-on heatstroke prevention program on June 7, 2026. This program is part of the 'Tokyo Heatstroke Prevention Seminar (Summer Habit Points Lecture).' As a simple and effective heat-mitigation method, Sharp will explain the efficacy of ice slurry, introduce the 'Ice Slurry Refrigerator,' and provide samples for tasting.

Moving forward, Sharp remains committed to promoting the importance of heatstroke prevention through its product offerings. The company will also continue to deepen its collaboration with local governments, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, to create environments where people can engage in activities safely even in hot environments.
