Navitime Japan Launches 'Climbing Lane Guidance' for Truck Navigation App

Navitime Japan Co., Ltd. will begin offering voice guidance for climbing lanes on expressways through its specialized truck navigation app, 'Truck Car Navi by NAVITIME,' starting May 19, 2026.

While driving on expressways, the app will announce the length of the climbing lane section via voice approximately 500 meters before the starting point. Additionally, icons will be displayed on the map at the start and end points of the climbing lane, allowing drivers to intuitively check the section length.

This feature was developed in response to numerous requests from drivers of heavy trucks and special vehicles. For heavy trucks, maintaining speed on steep inclines is challenging even with full acceleration, often creating a speed gap with following vehicles. Knowing the length of the climbing lane in advance allows drivers to make early decisions about lane changes, plan acceleration for merging, and choose the optimal gear. This support aims to prevent sudden braking by other vehicles and contribute to smoother, safer transport operations.
