Bio-AI startup Craif Inc. hosted MEXT official Atsushi Oku and his delegation at its research lab inside Nagoya University on May 28, 2026. The visitors observed the automated lab environment and Craif's bio-AI analysis technology used in its urine-based cancer risk screening test, MiSignal.
Located in the Nagoya University NIC building, Craif's laboratory acts as a data hub, analyzing over 50,000 urine samples gathered via joint research with over 50 university hospitals and cancer centers. The lab utilizes a proprietary digital clinical lab system that automates sample management and measurement to minimize human error and ensure stable, high-throughput operations.
Its screening service, MiSignal Scan (not a medical device), evaluates the risk of 10 cancer types, including pancreatic cancer, from Stage 1 by using AI to analyze urinary microRNA. Founded in 2018, Craif leverages its NANO IP (NANO Intelligence Platform) and AI technologies to develop non-invasive early cancer detection tests, aiming to help people live healthy, long lives.
