Design is not merely about creating a beautiful appearance; it is widely utilized as a process and method to systematically build things to achieve goals and objectives. It also plays an important role in various areas, such as the appearance and functionality of products, advertising, and the usability of websites and applications. Having basic knowledge of design is important not only for graphic and web designers but for anyone involved in creative work, including video creators, directors, and marketers. In this seminar series, Keiichi Masuda, who is active as an instructor at vocational schools in addition to managing qualifications and creating teaching materials for graphic design, web design, and video production, will take the stage. The focus will be on how to apply the basics of design, deepening understanding of design with a different theme each time.

<Seminar Contents> Vol.13: Thursday, May 7 "Japanese Styles Creators Should Know" From the two perspectives of Japanese styles up to the Kamakura period and Japanese styles from the Muromachi period to the Taisho period, we will consider how to apply them to modern design while touching upon the molding and design philosophy unique to Japan.

Vol.14: Thursday, May 21 "Japanese Patterns Creators Should Know" We will understand Japanese pattern expressions from two perspectives: Japanese patterns with plant motifs and Japanese patterns with non-plant motifs, and explore hints on how to apply them to modern design.

<Seminar Proceedings> 1. Theme explanation by the instructor 2. Post ideas like "We should do this!" in the chat 3. The instructor visualizes the posted opinions on a panel 4. Participants post images (URLs, etc.) that match the theme in the chat 5. The instructor presents and explains example images they prepared 6. Speaker Keiichi Masuda Representative Director, Fashion Industry Technology Inheritance Association Graduated from the Department of Design Informatics, College of Art and Design, Musashino Art University. He manages qualifications, creates teaching materials, and holds courses related to textile design, graphic design, video production, and web design. While working at Bunka Gakuen Educational Foundation, he had a track record of working on teaching material production with members from industry, government, and academia as an entrusted project by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
