Medical Principle Co., Ltd., a healthcare subsidiary of Creek & River Co., Ltd., has released the June issue of the medical human document magazine 'DOCTOR'S MAGAZINE.'
The cover story, 'Portrait of a Doctor,' features Dr. Toshihiko Satake, a professor of plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at the University of Toyama. Dr. Satake is a plastic surgeon who has helped many patients regain hope through breast reconstruction and was a key figure in driving Toyama Prefecture to the second-highest breast reconstruction rate in Japan. Inspired by a desire to heal patients similar to his older brother, who suffered from schizophrenia, he pursued a path in plastic surgery. Throughout his career, he refined his skills and particularly focused on breast reconstruction using fat grafting, pursuing a 'beauty that is not recognized as reconstruction.'
After becoming a professor at the University of Toyama in 2020, he established a breast reconstruction system known as the 'Toyama Model.' Currently, he is involved in training the next generation and practicing a flexible work style that is not bound by location, pursuing medical care that heals the mind based on his belief that 'plastic surgery is mental surgery.'
Additionally, the issue covers the challenges of Dr. Mariko Fukui of the Department of Respiratory Surgery at Juntendo University, serial columns on sleep, and book introductions, offering a diverse look at medical practice across Japan.
