Cultive Inc. (HQ: Yokohama, Kanagawa; CEO: Kiyoshi Ikeda), operator of the regional issue-solving platform 'river' that utilizes the Corporate Hometown Tax, will hold an online seminar titled 'On the Use of Corporate Hometown Tax' on June 9, 2026 (Tue), as part of their 'Regional Revitalization System Utilization Series.'
In this seminar, a representative from the Cabinet Office will speak to explain the 'Corporate Hometown Tax' program, which allows corporate tax deductions when companies donate to regional revitalization projects undertaken by local governments.
Seminar Overview
The Corporate Hometown Tax program, launched in fiscal year 2016, provides tax deductions from corporate-related taxes when companies donate to regional revitalization projects positioned within regional regeneration plans certified by the national government.
When a company utilizes this program, in addition to deductible expenses, tax credits expanded by the fiscal 2020 tax reform allow for a reduction of up to approximately 90% of the donation amount, effectively limiting the actual burden on the company to about 10%.
Donation records are increasing year by year. In fiscal year 2024, the total donation amount reached approximately 63.1 billion yen, with 1,590 local governments receiving donations and 8,464 companies participating, all marking record highs.
As population decline and the aging society complicate regional issues, it is not easy for local governments to solve regional problems alone. To solve these issues, it is crucial to utilize the power of companies and move forward through public-private partnerships.
This seminar will introduce the outline of the system and key points of utilization in an easy-to-understand manner for companies and local governments considering the use of the Corporate Hometown Tax.
By utilizing the Corporate Hometown Tax program, companies can go beyond simple financial support and generate new regional revitalization efforts that utilize their know-how, ideas, and talent.
