Environment Ministry Official to Speak! Online Seminar on "Core Human Resource Development Program for Promoting Regional Decarbonization" to be Held on June 23 (Tue)

This seminar will feature an official from the Ministry of the Environment who will explain the "Core Human Resource Development Program for Promoting Regional Decarbonization," which supports those working on regional decarbonization for the promotion of regional decarbonization projects.

Seminar Overview

Japan aims to achieve "2050 Carbon Neutral," which means reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. To achieve this, it is necessary to promote energy-saving measures that reduce energy consumption by combining various methods in each region, and to maximize the introduction of renewable energy (hereinafter referred to as "RE").

For the realization of regional decarbonization, it is important to maximize the use of regional resources such as RE, and while promoting decarbonization, to also connect it to the resolution of regional issues such as fostering a virtuous cycle in the regional economy, improving disaster resilience, and enhancing the quality of life.

On the other hand, a challenge in promoting regional decarbonization is the lack of human resources and know-how in local governments. In many cases, they struggle with where to start depending on the regional situation, how to involve stakeholders inside and outside the government, and how to connect these efforts to concrete projects.

This seminar will clearly introduce the Ministry of the Environment's initiatives and support menu to local governments that are about to start regional decarbonization projects, and to local governments and companies that are considering or promoting decarbonization initiatives.

Specifically, we will explain support menus that can be utilized according to the regional situation and consideration phase, such as consultation desks for those engaged in regional decarbonization, seminars, matching events, and dispatch of expert personnel.

From local governments that are about to start decarbonization initiatives to local governments and companies considering business creation through public-private partnerships and concrete project implementation, we will clearly explain the overview of systems useful for promoting regional decarbonization and points for their utilization.
