DAIKEN Unconditionally Provides Interior Tatami 'Kokochi Waza' to Children's Cafeterias

DAIKEN Corporation (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Takahiro Kiyosu) has endorsed the "ALIA Children's Support Project*" by the Living Amenity Association (hereinafter ALIA) and will unconditionally provide its interior tatami, "Kokochi Waza Laid-Type," as support for "Children's Cafeterias."

[Background]

The "ALIA Children's Support Project" is one of ALIA's SDGs initiatives, an industry association composed of housing equipment and building material manufacturers. To support the children who will lead the future, housing materials and equipment from member companies are provided free of charge to children's cafeterias nationwide through the certified NPO, Musubie.

As an ALIA member company, we have continuously participated in this project since fiscal year 2023, and have so far provided the interior tatami "Kokochi Waza Laid-Type" to six children's cafeterias across the country. Recipients have praised the warmth unique to "Kokochi Waza," the comfort of being able to sit and spend time like in a Japanese-style room, and its functional features such as water repellency.

This fiscal year, we plan to provide it to four more children's cafeterias (recipients not yet decided), and we will continue to actively engage in social contribution activities towards the realization of "a future full of smiles" as stated in our corporate philosophy.

[Features of "Kokochi Waza Laid-Type"]

This product allows you to easily create a tatami space simply by placing it on the floor. It can be easily taken out and put away when needed, and can be used as a space for meals, play, or relaxation.

The surface is made of machine-made Japanese paper, and its moisture absorption and desorption performance suppresses stickiness even in humid conditions, ensuring comfortable use. In addition to its gentle and soft feel, it also features a variety of colorful designs. Furthermore, its antibacterial specifications inhibit bacterial growth, keeping the product surface hygienic.

We had been using mats brought in on the floor of the old building, but with the interior tatami, it has become as comfortable as a Japanese-style room, allowing us to sit and play or eat. It's also very helpful that we can put it away after use. We will use it with care.

It has become a relaxing space for the children, and it seems to have expanded their range of play. It has become a comfortable space where they can enjoy traditional games such as "Bozu Mekuri" using Hyakunin Isshu cards, "Daruma Otoshi," and "Kendama."
