Seminar Content
Japan's land area is approximately 0.25% of the world's total, yet it accounts for about 10% of all earthquakes worldwide, making it a country with high seismic risk. Furthermore, in recent years, meteorological disasters such as heavy rains and typhoons have intensified, diversifying and complicating disaster risks. Under these circumstances, disaster prevention measures tailored to the characteristics of each region are becoming increasingly important.
While "disaster prevention measures" generally include initiatives like evacuation drills, reducing damage requires understanding the disaster risks of one's residential area in advance and taking appropriate precautions. This is particularly crucial for condominiums, where the expected risks can vary significantly depending on the location, making risk assessment a key challenge.
Therefore, this seminar will feature Kazuhisa Otao, President and Representative Director of Chuo Chigaku Co., Ltd., an expert in geospatial information and GIS (*1), as a guest. He will explain how to assess and address disaster risks that differ based on a condominium's location. Additionally, based on case studies, he will share insights applicable to condominium disaster prevention measures.
*1 A system for managing and analyzing information in conjunction with location by overlaying various data onto maps.

About the "Condominium Future Value Research Institute"
Established in 2019 as the first comprehensive research institute by a condominium management company. It analyzes various issues facing condominiums, which have become a "social infrastructure" in Japan, such as a shortage of board members due to the aging of residents, and rising repair reserve fund deficits due to aging buildings and increasing construction costs. The institute disseminates research reports to contribute to the creation of new condominium value.
