80% of golfers lose or break tees in a single round: Redefining the norm of 'disposable' gear

Daiya Corporation, which operates the golf gear brand 'Daiya Golf,' conducted a survey of amateur golfers ahead of Golf Course Day on May 24. The results revealed that approximately 80% of golfers break or lose golf tees during a single round, with about 60% accepting this as an unavoidable reality. Focusing on this commonly overlooked consumption, Daiya aims to offer a new choice focused on durability.

It has been about 120 years since the first golf course opened in Japan on May 24, 1903. Today, there are approximately 2,300 golf courses in Japan, where many amateur golfers enjoy regular rounds. Taking this anniversary as an opportunity, Daiya Golf conducted a survey to understand the reality of golfers' experiences regarding common gear consumption.

Survey Overview Conducted in April 2026, targeting 117 participants from Daiya Golf's official Instagram followers.

Key Findings 1. Experienced participants: 56% had more than 5 years of experience. 2. Regular players: Approximately 70% play at least once a month. 3. High breakage rate: 80% use at least one tee per round, with most losing one. 4. Hidden stress: While 58% consider it 'unavoidable,' 33% report it as a source of quiet frustration.

A New Choice: 'Durability' In response to the current situation where tee breakage is a given, Daiya Golf proposes a focus on durability. The 'Dia Strong Tee,' co-developed with professional golfer Shugo Imahira, was designed with tour-level environments in mind. Featuring impact-resistant materials and a slim shape that minimizes resistance at impact, the design seeks to balance durability with stability in shots. Its 75mm length also makes it easier for golfers to maintain consistent tee heights.
