Marubeni Shin Denryoku and Kansai Electric Power Agree on Off-Site Corporate PPA with Hankyu Corporation

Marubeni Shin Denryoku K.K. (hereinafter "Marubeni Shin Denryoku"), a consolidated subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation, and Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. (hereinafter "Kansai Electric Power") have agreed to a contract for an "off-site corporate PPA" (*) (hereinafter "this contract") utilizing solar power plants for Hankyu Corporation (hereinafter "Hankyu Corporation"). This initiative involves Marubeni Shin Denryoku aggregating approximately 5,000kW of renewable energy generated from multiple solar power plants as a specified wholesale supplier (aggregator), and Kansai Electric Power supplying it to Hankyu Corporation via an off-site corporate PPA.

Marubeni Shin Denryoku will promote "green initiatives" in accordance with the mid-term management strategy GC2027 of its parent company, Marubeni Corporation, and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society and a sustainable society through this off-site corporate PPA. The company aims to supply approximately 5 million kW of renewable energy to a wide range of customers by fiscal year 2030.

(*) Off-site Corporate PPA

A Corporate PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) is a contract where a company purchases renewable energy from a power generator at a fixed price over a long term. It is attracting attention as an energy procurement method that can contribute to reducing a company's CO₂ emissions. Among these, the scheme for procuring electricity from remote power generation facilities via the general transmission and distribution network is called an "off-site corporate PPA."
