Key Points of This Book:

Explains that there is a 'developmental order' for the language centers of the brain. Many parents, when wanting to 'increase vocabulary,' start with practicing single words or conversations. However, this book clearly explains, with illustrations, that language is not the first thing to develop, but rather the brain develops in the order of 'Security → Safety → Exploration → Language.'

Reveals 'child development' that was previously unseen without focusing solely on language. Instead of just looking at the perspective of 'not yet speaking' or 'unable to hold a conversation,' it introduces developmental signs that precede language, such as the relationship with secure individuals, a sense of security in the world, and exploratory behavior like 'I want to try this.' It proposes a new perspective of viewing a child's state not as 'what they cannot do,' but as 'the abilities they are currently developing.'

Introduces the 'foundation for language' that can be nurtured at home. Therapeutic interventions and support institutions play a crucial role in developmental assessments and supporting group living. On the other hand, this book explains how 'security,' 'safety,' and 'exploration,' nurtured through daily parent-child interactions, form the foundation for language. It conveys a perspective of supporting child development by leveraging the roles of both therapeutic interventions and home life, rather than viewing them as conflicting.

Author's Message:

I desperately wanted my son's language to develop, so I diligently took him to therapy, taught him words, and continued practicing conversations. However, it didn't improve as I had hoped. Looking back now, my son's brain was not yet at the 'stage of developing language.' Security. Safety. Exploration. Language came after that foundation was built.

By learning this order, my perspective on my son's growth shifted significantly, moving from 'he can't converse yet' to 'security is developing now' and 'his ability to explore is growing.'

I would be happy if this e-book serves as an opportunity to look at the process of language development, rather than just language itself, and helps you notice your child's new growth.

Author Profile:

I am Nao Sakurayama, a Developmental Science Communication Trainer who helps children with delayed speech rapidly develop conversational skills through home-based therapy.

When the brain develops, language grows. By learning and practicing the home-based therapy techniques that over 7,500 pairs of parents and children, both domestically and internationally, have proven effective, children with autism who have been stagnating for over a year with echolalia or one-sided demands can start engaging in conversations that begin with smiles like 'Mom, look~♪'.

I obtained a childcare worker's license and a Type 2 kindergarten teacher's license from a vocational school for childcare. I worked as an elementary school teacher for 10 years. As a specialist in early childhood education, I returned to the importance of 'attachment' in parent-child relationships, which is the foundation of child-rearing, and I teach home-based therapy techniques that foster brain development to mothers who feel 'lonely' seeing their child's behavior such as:

✔️ Not making eye contact

✔️ Only communicating demands

✔️ Not seeking strong interaction with Mom

Let's graduate from the lonely feeling of not being able to communicate through words or emotions. Instagram Nao Sakurayama here: https://instagram.com/sakurayama_nao

What is Developmental Science Communication?

Developed by Kayoko Yoshino, organizer of the Developmental Science Lab, this is a scientifically-backed communication method that promotes brain growth and development, based on her 15 years of experience in developmental support as a clinical developmental psychologist, as well as knowledge from brain science, psychology, and education. It is a daily communication technique that understands a child's characteristics and draws out their strengths. By mastering Developmental Science Communication, simply by conversing with your child, their problematic behaviors will decrease, and their motivation and abilities will grow.
