US Theatrical Release on June 5! 'Another World (世外)', an Animated Film from Digital Hollywood University Graduate School's 'Japan IP Global Challenge Project'

Digital Hollywood University Graduate School, a professional graduate school in Japan, is pleased to announce the US theatrical release of the feature-length animated film 'Another World (世外)' on June 5, 2026. This project was planned and promoted by Professor Tsuyoshi Yoshimura as part of the 'Japan IP Global Challenge Program,' which aims to foster leaders who create new industries and culture through the fusion of SEAD (Science, Engineering, Art, and Design).

Based on the novel 'Qiannian Gui' (Millennium Ghost) by Naka Saijo (published by Tokuma Bunko), the film was completed in the spring of 2025 as an international co-production with the Hong Kong-based animation studio POINT FIVE CREATIONS LIMITED, under the guidance of producer Polly Yeung and director Tommy Kai Chung Ng. In June 2025, it held its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025 in the 'Out of Competition / Midnight Specials' section and was also screened at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia 2025 in the 'Noves Visions' section in October. Following this international acclaim, it launched in Hong Kong on October 29, ranking first in its opening week. It subsequently won the Best Animated Feature Film at the Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan and received eight nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards. After being released in the UK, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Vietnam, it will now hit US theaters on June 5, 2026.

'Another World (世外)' is a feature animation born from the 'Japan IP Global Challenge Project' at Digital Hollywood University Graduate School. Set in the fantasy world of '世外' (the world beyond) existing between the past and future, it explores the journey of human memories and souls. The film merges the essence of Japanese fantasy literature with Hong Kong's animation technology, tailored for the international market.
