Movie Plus to Feature Samurai Action Films Centered on Takeshi Kitano's 'Kubi'

Discovery Japan Inc., which operates Movie Plus, one of Japan's largest movie channels, will broadcast the samurai action film 'Kubi', written, directed, edited, and starring Takeshi Kitano, who also wrote the original story. The film depicts the Incident at Honno-ji from a unique historical perspective. To commemorate the broadcast of 'Kubi', a special lineup of samurai action films will be aired on Saturday, June 20. The lineup includes the 'Azumi' series starring Aya Ueto, '13 Assassins' (2010) featuring a star-studded cast including Koji Yakusho and Takayuki Yamada as 13 assassins who take on an army of 300, and the spectacular period drama 'Heaven and Earth' depicting the conflict between Kenshin Uesugi and Shingen Takeda. The special lineup includes: 'Kubi' at 21:00 on June 20, '13 Assassins (2010)' at 15:45, 'Heaven and Earth' at 18:45, 'Azumi' at 23:30, and 'Azumi 2: Death or Love' at 26:00.
