Project Background

The Barin-bouki, a traditional hand broom once cherished in every household in the Iwato district of Tottori, is a unique local craft made from the roots of plants that grow in the sand dunes. However, due to changes in lifestyle, production ceased, and it has become a lost culture with no remaining craftspeople. If this tradition were to disappear completely, it would be a significant loss for the region, as the Barin-bouki represents not just an old cleaning tool, but the history and identity rooted in Iwato. Therefore, the "Barin-bouki Revival Project," centered around IWADO BASE, was launched with the aim of passing down Iwato's history to the next generation.

The funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign will be used to prepare fields for cultivating the raw material, "Kekamonohashi," and to establish a "Noufuku-renkei" (agriculture-welfare collaboration) system by commissioning the manufacturing of Barin-bouki to local Type B employment support businesses.
