EduShip Inc. (Headquarters: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Sojiro Sato) held the kickoff event for "EduChalle," a new project connecting school challenges with the power of private enterprises, on March 17, 2026.

On the day, representatives from approximately 40 private companies (about 80 attendees) interested in solving school challenges gathered together. Lively discussions took place about the real challenges facing schools struggling with staff and budget shortages, and a new model of co-creation using the assets of the school teaching materials industry as a platform to solve these issues.

Sojiro Sato, Executive Committee Chair of EduChalle, pointed out that the current state of public schools is an "additive structure" where new tasks are piled on top of limited staff and budgets. He raised the alarm that most of Japan's elementary and junior high schools face this structural challenge.

"Non-teaching administrative tasks are encroaching on the core duties expected of educators. There are limits to solving these problems from within the schools alone. By combining the power of private enterprises, we can bring dramatic change to the front lines of education."
