EIPA Announces Results of the 3rd Interoperability Test Among Members

The E-Invoice Promotion Association (Representative Director: TKC Corporation, hereafter "EIPA") announces the results of the 3rd interoperability test conducted among its members to verify the interoperability of digital invoices (Peppol e-invoice).

"Peppol" is an international standard specification for sending and receiving electronic documents such as invoices over a network. It is adopted in European countries, Singapore, Australia, and others, and the utilization of digital invoices (Peppol e-invoice) exchanged via the Peppol network is expanding globally.

◆ About the Results of the Interoperability Test (3rd)

In order for many businesses to adopt digital invoices (Peppol e-invoice) with peace of mind, it is important to confirm in advance that invoice data can be correctly sent and received even between systems and services provided by different vendors. To verify this interoperability, since January 2026, several certified Peppol Service Providers in Japan who are EIPA members collaborated to conduct a mutual connectivity test (3rd) between the systems or services provided by EIPA member companies. In this test (*2, *3), 546 interoperability tests, including sending and receiving between different vendors, were conducted and all were successful.

As a result, we confirmed that smooth data integration is possible across multiple systems and services when introducing digital invoices (Peppol e-invoice).

*3 Thomson Reuters participated in the test using Peppol BIS Standard Invoice JP PINT Version 1.1.1, and completed the transition to the latest version, Version 1.1.2, on March 9, 2026.

◆ Background of Conducting the Interoperability Test

Digital invoices (Peppol e-invoice) are a mechanism that allows digital invoices to be smoothly exchanged online with business partners domestically and internationally. By utilizing this, businesses are expected to improve productivity through automation and efficiency of billing, payment, and bookkeeping tasks, and realization of accurate processing, in addition to responding to the invoice system paperlessly.

In the popularization of digital invoices, it is important to be able to smoothly exchange invoice data with business partners even if the systems and services used are different. Through confirming such interoperability, EIPA is advancing the development of an environment that businesses can adopt with confidence.

To further promote digital invoices (Peppol e-invoice) in Japan, EIPA will continue to collaborate with certified Peppol Service Providers in Japan to confirm interoperability and disseminate necessary information.
