New Release of Two Enterprise Optical Media Converters Supporting 10Gbps/1Gbps High-Speed Transmission via Fiber Optics

Elecom Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President and CEO: Koichi Ishimi) announces the mid-June launch of two new enterprise optical media converters that connect LAN cables with fiber optics to enable high-speed, long-distance data transmission—one model supporting 10Gbps and the other supporting 1Gbps.

These optical media converters allow stable data transmission over distances exceeding the standard 100m maximum length of LAN cables. The lineup includes the "ECB-SF-XDA," which supports 10Gbps (10GBASE-T) on the RJ45 side and accepts SFP+/SFP modules, and the "ECB-SF-GDA," which supports 1Gbps (1000BASE-T) on the RJ45 side and accepts SFP modules. Mounting hardware for DIN rails and wall installation is included.

By installing Elecom's separately sold SFP+/SFP modules according to the on-site network environment, long-distance transmission of up to approximately 10km is possible. Since fiber optics are resistant to electromagnetic noise, these converters are suitable for environments requiring stable communication, such as factories, medical institutions, and research and development facilities. A maximum warranty period of 5 years (※) is offered, with paid maintenance services also available. These products are ideal for building long-distance networks, such as inter-site connections beyond 100m.

※The standard warranty is 3 years. Registering as a user extends the warranty by 2 years, for a total of up to 5 years.

Optical Media Converters for Building Ethernet Networks Beyond 100m

These optical media converters feature an RJ45 port and an SFP slot. When combined with separately sold modules and fiber optic cables, they enable stable high-speed transmission of up to 10Gbps or 1Gbps (both specification values) over distances of up to approximately 10km. They are ideal for high-speed network connections within large premises or between remote sites.

The product lineup includes the "ECB-SF-XDA," supporting 10GBASE-T on the RJ45 port and equipped with an SFP+ slot for 10G operation, and the "ECB-SF-GDA," supporting 1000BASE-T on the RJ45 port and equipped with an SFP slot for 1G operation.

Fiber optics are highly resistant to electromagnetic interference, allowing consistent communication quality even in noisy environments such as factories. They are also suitable for medical institutions and R&D facilities where stable communication is critical. Additionally, signal degradation over distance is minimal, enabling reliable long-distance connectivity.

The converters use a store-and-forward data transfer method, storing received data in a buffer and performing error checks before forwarding. This ensures high reliability and data accuracy.

A metal casing with excellent heat dissipation enables operation at ambient temperatures up to 50°C, ensuring reliable performance even in high-temperature environments.

Equipped with Fault Detection and Energy-Saving Features

Supports LFP (Link Fault Pass-Through) mode, enabling rapid detection of cable breaks at remote locations. Network administrators can monitor fault status and locations, reducing troubleshooting time.

Complies with EEE (IEEE 802.3az) to optimize power consumption in Ethernet networks. Automatically enters low-power mode when no communication is taking place, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.

Includes Mounting Hardware for DIN Rails and Walls

Standard includes a DIN rail mounting bracket for easy installation on 35mm-wide DIN rails. Additionally, the included wall-mounting bracket allows for wall installation.
