ELECOM Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President and CEO: Koichi Ishimi) has jointly developed a new dual-function product called 'Stylus Two-Way' with ZEBRA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Taro Ishikawa), a renowned writing instrument manufacturer. This innovative pen functions as both a touch pen (stylus) and a ballpoint pen using the same pen tip, and will be newly launched starting Friday, July 31, 2026.

The 'Stylus Two-Way' is a newly developed 2-in-1 stylus pen that allows users to operate an iPad and write on paper with the same pen tip. It writes on paper with gel ink while operating the iPad without releasing ink, making it convenient for users who wish to take notes on paper and interact with digital screens simultaneously. There is no need for pairing or switching via tapping; users can freely switch between paper and iPad without changing pens, enabling a seamless writing experience.

Development Background

This product was realized by combining ZEBRA's long-standing expertise in writing with ELECOM's accumulated know-how in touch pen development. By adopting a retractable click mechanism and ensuring that the ballpoint pen functions as a stylus on iPad, the companies worked together on mechanical and circuit design, manufacturing, verification, and quality control. The project spanned approximately five years.

The product will be available at ELECOM Direct Shops and major electronics retailers nationwide. Further details will be announced in a company press release in late July.
