Elith announced its selection in the 4th call of GENIAC (Generative AI Accelerator Challenge), a national project by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and NEDO aimed at strengthening domestic generative AI capabilities. The accepted proposal is for 'FinGuard,' a financial-sector-specific Japanese AI guardrail model. FinGuard monitors generative AI inputs and outputs in real time to detect and block PII leaks, compliance violations, hallucinations, and prompt injection attacks. Unlike service-specific solutions, FinGuard is designed as a universal safety layer that can connect across various LLMs and AI agents used by financial institutions. The project will also build and publish 'FinGuard-Bench,' a financial-domain safety benchmark. GENIAC, launched in February 2024, supports development of competitive generative AI foundation models primarily through computing resource provision. Elith plans field trials with financial education institutions, fintech companies, and robo-advisor operators to advance safe generative AI adoption in finance.
