Esion Inc. (Headquarters: Fujisawa, Kanagawa; CEO: Keita Yoshida) conducted a survey of 71 men and women in their 20s to 60s who purchased the 'Esion Scalp Care Amino Shampoo (Completely Fragrance-Free)' between February 14 and March 24, 2026. The survey confirmed that fragrance-free shampoo is chosen not only for scent preferences but also for scalp care, ease of use for families, and compatibility with situations where scents should be minimized.
In recent years, with growing awareness of strong scents in fabric softeners and cosmetics, there is increasing interest in the 'no added fragrance' option in hair care. Among the purchasers, those in their 40s accounted for approximately 35%, and those in their 50s for approximately 38%, indicating that the product is centered on adults concerned about scalp stickiness, odor, and changes in hair volume. Furthermore, among those in their 50s, male purchasers outnumbered female purchasers, suggesting that the lack of fragrance removes the 'male' or 'female' scent barrier, making it easier to share among couples and families.
The main reasons for choosing fragrance-free shampoo identified in this survey are: 1. Scalp care (preference for simple formulas), 2. No interference with other scents (perfumes/softeners), and 3. Ease of sharing among families.
'Esion Scalp Care Amino Shampoo' is developed with the concept 'Good hair starts from a good scalp,' redefining the primary role of shampoo: 'washing.' It uses a hybrid cleansing formula based on high-performance PPT-based cleansing ingredients, gently washing hair and scalp with rich foam while maintaining moisture. It also contains an 'Amino Cocktail' of 12 carefully selected amino acids, acting as an all-in-one shampoo that cleanses, nourishes, and conditions in one step. It is available on Amazon and the official website.
