FINDi Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) will begin taking pre-orders in June 2026 for the 'FINDi FF2' (hereafter 'FF2') underwater drone, which has been in development since 2024.
The FF2 acquires not only high-definition video data but also advanced data that can be utilized in cyberspace by integrating location information, trajectories, and more.
For the first year of sales in 2026, orders will be limited to just 10 units.
Development Background
Traditionally, underwater surveys for infrastructure facilities, pipelines, ships, and plants have primarily relied on manual labor by divers. However, human surveys pose problems regarding safety, quality, and cost.
In particular, human underwater surveys can only capture photographic records at arbitrary locations. Even when underwater drones were used, pinpointing the exact location of anomalies was inadequate, useful information was not converted into structured data, and creating reports required a significant amount of time.
To solve these issues, FINDi has been developing an underwater drone since 2024 aimed at 'streamlining everything from survey to reporting comprehensively.'
Features
The FF2 is designed for use in confined spaces and narrow environments. With a compact body of 374mm (W) x 478mm (H) x 612mm (L), it boasts high maneuverability, enabling stable surveys even in harsh environments.
The integrated survey support system visualizes the acquired location information, displaying and recording it on maps and drawings. The FF2's steering camera video and location information are saved in a synchronized state, ready for use when creating survey documents.
Compact Design A compact design that allows deployment through manholes.
High Maneuverability and Stability Stable navigation even in environments with currents.
Visualization Real-time visualization and recording of location data, navigation trajectories, video, and annotations.
From Survey to Report Creation Acquired data can be played back, edited, and exported as PDFs.
Anticipated Use Cases
Culvert Pipelines Utilizing its powerful maneuverability even in pipelines with currents to conduct surveys while keeping track of the filming location.
Inside Plant Facilities Films the gas-phase sections just like the underwater sections. Navigates safely even in confined spaces.
Ports, Oceans, and Dams Capable of reaching depths difficult for human divers. Can be deployed without needing special equipment.
Ships Films complex structures without blind spots. Adaptable to environments that were high-risk for conventional diving operations.
