Fortience Consulting Inc.

SAP Japan Co., Ltd.

Fortience Consulting Inc. (formerly KUNIE Inc., headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shigeki Yamaguchi, hereinafter "Fortience"), part of the NTT DATA Group, and SAP Japan Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshikazu Horikawa, hereinafter "SAP Japan") are pleased to announce the full-scale launch of "DAIKIN People," a human resources database built on SAP SuccessFactors® by Daikin Industries, Ltd. (headquartered in Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President and COO: Naofumi Takenaka, hereinafter "Daikin") as a platform for executing its human resources strategy. The database is now operational in approximately 50 countries and regions worldwide, across more than 180 locations. The target audience includes approximately 11,000 employees in Japan and about 1,000 managers and above in overseas group companies. This database will centralize dispersed human resources data through linkage and integration, streamline data collection and update processes, and accelerate its use in HR initiatives such as optimal placement, planned development of executives, retention, and disclosure of human capital information. Fortience has provided continuous support from the conceptualization phase through the operation and utilization phases.

Background

Daikin is accelerating its global business expansion with air conditioning as its core business. Since air conditioning requires development, production, sales, and service systems tailored to regional characteristics due to differences in climate, housing styles, customer preferences, and regulations in each country and region, Daikin needs to build such systems. The company continues to meet the needs of customers worldwide, currently operating in over 170 countries and regions, with the group's total number of employees expanding to around 100,000.

To support this expansion, it is essential to secure, place, and develop human resources in a timely manner across the global group. However, challenges existed where human resources data was scattered across various locations and in different formats (systems/paper), making unified understanding difficult and hindering management that maximizes individual growth potential and strategic data utilization.

Therefore, with the objective of "building a foundation to accelerate optimal placement of human resources within the global group," the company is promoting centralization through data linkage and integration, improving operational efficiency, and visualizing qualitative information such as career aspirations, thereby accelerating the challenges and growth of each employee and strengthening data utilization to support management decision-making.

Support Overview

Fortience began its support from the conceptualization stage of human resource management and the human resources database. After organizing requirements through a Proof of Concept (PoC), Fortience provided consistent support through system construction and deployment both domestically and internationally. Based on the concept, the organized requirements were translated into a design that assumes visualization and utilization of human resources data, and were quickly reflected in system functions. Concurrently, through detailed communication that considered data conditions at domestic and international sites and the legal regulations of each region, consensus building and data quality assurance were achieved.

SAP Japan supports the architecture and operational design conducive to global scaling by providing product best practices and sharing knowledge regarding implementation and operation.

Overview of the Human Resources Database "DAIKIN People"

"DAIKIN People" is a human resources database based on SAP SuccessFactors, which centrally manages information useful for personnel placement and development, such as employee transfer and promotion information, skills, qualifications, career aspirations, and development direction, for use in HR initiatives. The target audience includes approximately 11,000 employees in Japan and about 1,000 managers and above in overseas group companies in China, Asia, Europe, and North/South America.

Key Features

- Centralization of individual employee information Human resource information such as internal history, skills, and qualifications is centralized, allowing supervisors to refer to their subordinates' information when needed. Additionally, subordinates' "development direction" and dialogue content can be recorded and accumulated, allowing past information to be carried over and confirmed even when the supervising manager changes. Access is managed with role-based access control.

- Continuous accumulation of self-growth records through employee self-updates Employees themselves can update information as needed at key points in their work or when personal circumstances change, accumulating it as a record of self-growth (annual updates are mandatory). Questions are prepared to allow recording of intentions for new challenges such as new work or overseas assignments, career thoughts, and aspirations, and this information is utilized for management, development, and placement considerations.

- Visualization of organizational/personnel data, balancing quality and operational efficiency The current state of the organization can be grasped based on the latest data such as age composition and gender ratio. Concurrently, data governance is established through master data integration, code standardization, duplicate elimination, and update workflows, balancing data quality maintenance and improvement with operational efficiency.

- Support for candidate extraction through multi-condition personnel search By combining multiple conditions such as specific work experience and qualifications, the system supports the extraction of candidate personnel according to business needs. This can be utilized for considerations in optimal placement and development plans.

Future Outlook

Fortience and SAP Japan will continue to support the advanced utilization of DAIKIN People, contributing to further strengthening Daikin's human resources strategy execution capabilities through the development of common global indicators, continuous improvement of data quality, and on-site utilization.
