FRONTEO, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masahiro Morimoto; hereinafter "FRONTEO") is launching the "KIBIT Amanogawa for Academia Program," an academic research support program that will provide licenses for its proprietary medical paper search AI, "KIBIT Amanogawa," to universities and research institutions for approximately one year, under the philosophy of "Making Japan a Land of Drug Discovery Again."
This program will select up to 10 projects to support drug discovery research in academia. By delivering "KIBIT Amanogawa," a medical paper search AI that can uncover new associations between genes and diseases previously unnoticed in vast amounts of literature, to research sites, we aim to foster new ideas among researchers and contribute to the creation of innovative pharmaceuticals originating from Japan.

Background of this Program
As drug discovery research becomes increasingly advanced and specialized, the role of universities and research institutions in creating innovative pharmaceuticals is growing in importance. Under the philosophy of "Making Japan a Land of Drug Discovery Again," FRONTEO has been strengthening collaborations with domestic and international academia*3,4 and university-originated bio-ventures*5 using its proprietary equation-driven AI "KIBIT"*1 and its AI drug discovery support service "Drug Discovery AI Factory (DDAIF)"*2.
This program aims to support researchers' new ideas and hypothesis generation by enabling the use of "KIBIT Amanogawa" in the fundamental research settings of academia, which is responsible for the upstream stages of drug discovery.
FRONTEO aims to contribute to the creation of innovative pharmaceuticals originating from Japan by further enhancing the research capabilities of academia.
*1 Equation-driven AI "KIBIT": Artificial intelligence independently developed by FRONTEO. By using equations, it achieves discontinuous discovery, understanding of causal relationships, and high reproducibility. The lightweight learning process enables high-speed, high-precision analysis at the CPU level. *2 DDAIF: An AI drug discovery support service where FRONTEO's drug discovery experts, well-versed in AI and drug discovery, utilize KIBIT's natural language processing technology and proprietary analysis methods to provide target molecule/indication discovery and supporting hypotheses. *3 Press release dated April 27, 2026: FRONTEO and Tokyo University of Science Establish Industry-Academia Collaboration Research Hub for AI Drug Discovery, https://www.fronteo.com/news/pr/260427 *4 Press release dated May 13, 2026: University of Oklahoma Confirms Pancreatic Cancer Novel Target Molecule Candidate Discovered by FRONTEO's AI Drug Discovery Support Service "Drug Discovery AI Factory" Inhibits Cell Proliferation, https://www.fronteo.com/news/pr/20260513_02 *5 Press release dated February 12, 2026: FRONTEO Provides Science Support for AI Drug Discovery Service "Drug Discovery AI Factory," Enhancing Japan's Drug Discovery Capabilities and Launching Joint Drug Discovery Ecosystem Business "DDAIF Innovation Bridge" with Bio-Ventures, https://www.fronteo.com/news/pr/20260212_01

"KIBIT Amanogawa" is a medical paper search AI system equipped with FRONTEO's proprietary natural language processing algorithm. It comprehensively analyzes over 35 million papers in PubMed* and derives associations between genes and diseases not explicitly stated in the papers using the "discontinuous discovery" approach.
The analysis results are visualized on a map, allowing for an at-a-glance understanding of the strength of associations and the positional relationships between papers. This facilitates encounters with insights that could not be found through keyword searches, supporting researchers' hypothesis generation and new ideas.
It significantly reduces the extensive literature search work traditionally done manually and achieves comprehensive, bias-free analysis, allowing researchers to focus on their core research activities. * Database of biomedical literature from the National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/
About FRONTEO, Inc. URL: https://www.fronteo.com/
FRONTEO supports the judgment of experts in various fields who face social issues day and night by providing its proprietary equation-driven AI "KIBIT," creating starting points for innovation. Unlike general-purpose AI, our proprietary natural language processing technology (patented in Japan, Europe, the US, and South Korea) enables high-speed and high-precision analysis without relying on the amount of training data or computing power. Furthermore, by utilizing patented technology to map (visualize the structure of) analyzed information, "KIBIT" can directly appeal to the insights of experts. In recent years, "KIBIT's" technology has also been applied to hypothesis generation and target molecule discovery in drug discovery.
Through the unique technology and approach of "KIBIT," we are promoting social implementation in the fields of Life Science AI, Risk Management (Economic Security, Business Intelligence & Compliance Support, Business Intelligence & Professional Support, Legal Tech AI), and DX (Arnets Inc.), aiming to realize our philosophy of "providing solutions that do not miss risks and opportunities buried in collective intelligence, and achieving fairness in the information society."
