Fujikura is promoting activities to achieve zero CO2 emissions (Scope 1, 2) from its group-wide operations, including factories and offices, by 2050.

Under this policy, Fukagawa Gatharia has been working to advance energy management technologies through energy conservation by improving the efficiency of equipment in office buildings and commercial facilities, and by utilizing BEMS (Building Energy Management System). In recent years, it has also promoted the effective use of renewable energy for its electricity consumption through the use of non-fossil fuel certificates.

This PPA introduction further advances these initiatives and expands the use of renewable energy electricity at Fukagawa Gatharia.

Through Looop Electric Power Co., Inc., a retail electricity provider, Fujikura will procure renewable energy electricity for use in some facilities at Fukagawa Gatharia for 20 years based on the PPA. The annual procurement volume is approximately 2,500 MWh, which is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1,130 tons annually.

Fukagawa Gatharia will further promote initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions and continue to operate with a lower environmental impact as a facility that is cherished by the local community, visitors, and business professionals.

Note 1: Fukagawa Gatharia

A urban regeneration space redeveloped by Fujikura in 2003 with the concept of "Establishing a New Identity for the Fukagawa-Kiba Area." With a view to inheriting the culture and traditions of the downtown area and creating a new era, it is an integrated facility equipped with office buildings, a large supermarket, a movie theater, a restaurant street, and a fitness club. Gatharia is a coined word from GATHER + AREA + IA (a Latin-derived suffix representing countries and regions), signifying an area where people and things gather.
