Fukushima Hachimangu, a shrine in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture, will begin distributing its rainy season limited 'Choju-giga Goshuin' on Saturday, June 6, 2026. This special early-summer Goshuin uses Washi paper with a soft texture, depicting raindrops and characters from the Choju-giga scroll.
The Goshuin also features 'Shiro-chan,' a Shiba Inu loved by visitors to Fukushima Hachimangu. It blends naturally into the world of Choju-giga, creating a playful design. Furthermore, it is designed to be photographed alongside the hydrangeas blooming in the shrine precincts, allowing visitors to enjoy the magical atmosphere of the rainy season where the texture of the Washi paper overlaps with the dappled sunlight.
In recent years, Fukushima Hachimangu has attracted many visitors from Japan and abroad, sparked by their 'transparent amulets' and seasonal Goshuin. The shrine aims to provide the Goshuin not as mere collectibles, but as 'experiences you can only encounter in that season, at that place.'
