The Japanese preliminary for the 'Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) 2026,' one of the world's largest startup contests, was held on March 3, 2026, with Physiologus Technologies emerging as the winner. The company is developing a next-generation home hemodialysis device that fundamentally changes existing medical infrastructure. While traditional dialysis requires large amounts of water, the company's proprietary technology completely eliminates dependence on water infrastructure. This innovation has the potential to eliminate the need for hospital visits and reduce economic losses by approximately 500 billion yen in Japan and 4.1 trillion yen in the U.S. annually. Furthermore, as the device operates without water, it is also expected to serve as a life-saving tool during disasters. The company will represent Japan at the global finals in Silicon Valley this autumn.
