Gakken Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Gakken Holdings Co., Ltd., released the health practical book 'Scientifically Correct Stretching to Lower Blood Pressure: Vessel Stretching' on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

'Vessel Stretching' is a stretching method that extends the muscles and blood vessels of the lower body. It was devised by Dr. Soichi Iemitsu, a professor at the College of Sport and Health Science, Ritsumeikan University, and a specialist in exercise therapy and blood vessels. This method is described as an ultra-simple, gentle stretch that anyone can do.

No special equipment is required, and it can be performed anytime and anywhere using a chair, floor, bed, or stairs. In the author's research experiments, participants who continued 'Vessel Stretching' for four weeks (twice a day, four or more times a week) showed improvements in their blood pressure. The book explains the mechanism for lowering blood pressure by softening blood vessels and promoting the secretion of NO (nitric oxide).
