Since its founding in San Francisco, USA, in 1969, Gap has consistently positioned itself as a global casual fashion brand, championing modern American casual style.

Rooted in its origins of selling denim and vinyl records at launch, Gap has carried music as part of its brand DNA. Starting Friday, August 28, 2026, the brand will launch its unique new project 'GAP MUSIC' (https://gapmusic.jp/), focusing on the intersection of fashion and music.

Throughout its history, Gap has existed at the crossroads of fashion, music, and culture, collaborating with artists who express originality through their unique perspectives. With this project, Gap will spotlight diverse talents—from established cultural influencers to rising new artists—by delivering content, playlists, and music-related topics on the dedicated 'GAP MUSIC' website. The brand aims to inspire new creative connections between fashion and music.

GAP MUSIC PRESENTS: Fashion Shoot & Interview

This fashion and interview series highlights the style and creativity of artists active in the music scene through fashion shoots and in-depth interviews. This month’s theme is 'SOUNDS OF DENIM.' Centered on denim—the iconic symbol of Gap—the project features three artist acts dressed in denim. The first installment features singer-songwriter Sarasara, with more artist content to be released sequentially.

GAP MUSIC PRESENTS: PLAYLIST

A monthly playlist series featuring a different guest curator each time. The inaugural playlist is curated by Tomoyuki Tanaka (FPM), a DJ, music producer, and selector acclaimed both in Japan and internationally. Inspired by Gap’s founding year, '1969,' Tanaka has selected tracks that capture the spirit of that era. The playlist reflects the energy and atmosphere of a time when denim became a symbol of self-expression and music and culture sparked new values. This spirit, deeply connected to Gap’s roots, will be shared via a Spotify playlist.

GAP MUSIC PRESENTS: Ongaku Kawaraban

'Ongaku Kawaraban' is a music column by Shoichi Miyake, a writer and interviewer specializing in music and broader cultural topics. The column will deliver timely updates on notable new releases and live events, along with the latest topics spotlighted by GAP MUSIC. Each month, it will feature album reviews, live reports, and upcoming music events, sharing the latest trends in domestic and international music culture.
