GARDE Co., Ltd., which globally provides total services in interior design, consulting, and coordination, and Tokyo Mode Gakuen, a vocational school that trains immediate-contributing professionals across fashion, design, business, interior, graphic, and beauty industries, have announced the five finalists and the grand prize winner of the industry-academia collaboration project "DIGITAL FASHION AWARD."
This award initiative was launched against the backdrop of an industry challenge: while the adoption of the 3D development tool "CLO" is progressing in the fashion industry, its utilization has been limited to sample production and cost reduction, failing to adequately connect to new revenue opportunities such as marketing, e-commerce, and metaverse expansion.
The project was developed as an implementation-focused award that presents a model for utilizing digital fashion as an "asset," starting from student creativity.
Project Outline
The theme was "Casual Party on Metaverse" (avatar fashion to wear to a casual party held in the metaverse).
From a total of 85 entries, 10 works were selected, and digital modeling was performed using the 3D production tool "CLO." In the interim review, public voting by visitors to a real event selected the top 5 works.
The selected works were implemented in "Fortnite," a global online game operated by Epic Games, and released as a participatory fashion event where players can actually view and experience them in a virtual space. Furthermore, after a final review by eight companies committed to promoting digital fashion, the grand prize winner was announced.
