GC Corporation (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), a comprehensive dental manufacturer, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, May 18, 2026, for the construction of the 'Fuji Oyama Factory Biomaterials Plant' in Oyama, Shizuoka Prefecture.
In recent years, to address the advanced dental treatments requiring high technology, GC has been strengthening its biomaterials business, such as bone graft materials and absorbable membranes. In July 2023, the company succeeded the development, manufacturing, sales, and dental product sales business of biomaterials (mainly dental tooth extraction protection materials and grafts for dermis defects in plastic surgery and emergency medicine) previously handled by the collagen business of the former Olympus Terumo Biomaterials Corp., and is committed to further development of the biomaterials business in both dental and medical fields.
The new biomaterials plant, to be built as part of this strengthening, is scheduled to manufacture biomaterial products. To realize the extremely strict manufacturing and quality control required for manufacturing class IV medical devices, it is equipped with large clean rooms and clean benches designed specifically based on product and process characteristics, complying with the latest standards and regulations.
Under 'Vision 2031,' GC has set the goal of 'becoming a leading company in the dental world that realizes a longevity society.' To achieve this, the Fuji Oyama Factory will create new value as a mother factory that balances consideration for the local community and the environment.
