The Ryukyu Golden Kings are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement on a three-year multi-year contract, including the 2026-27 season, with Morihisa Yamauchi (#32).

Born and raised in Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture, Yamauchi has continued to excel and gain diverse experiences even after leaving his hometown, and we are overjoyed that he has returned to Okinawa at this time. It is reassuring to fight alongside a player with so much experience. Beyond his performance on the court, he brings great value off the court as well. With his beloved, bright personality, he smoothly facilitates team communication across all ages, and we expect him to contribute his wealth of experience back to the team in various ways. For me, this team is a special place where I started my professional career and where I was nurtured both as a player and as a person. I am very honored to wear this uniform again and fight for Okinawa.

With a great presence who has supported this team for many years leaving, he has been a symbol of the team, a local pride, and a player who fought for this team more than anyone else. Many fans are likely feeling a wide range of emotions right now. As one of them, I believe what he left for this team was not just victories or records, but the very meaning of "fighting for this city."

I do not think I can become a replacement for Ryuichi. I do not think I can fill that void. However, it is now our turn to pass on this team he protected, this city he loved, and the future of the team he believed in. What I can do is play with full effort every day, support my teammates, and keep speaking up so that this team continues to look forward. Not letting what he built end, but passing it on to the next generation. That is my role.
