GMO Digital Lab, Inc. (※1), a member of the GMO Internet Group (President and CEO: Masato Yamana), will add a new "AI Data Summary" function to its electronic issuance service "GMO Digital Pay" for house electronic money (※2), gift certificates, and shareholder benefit coupons. This function will automatically analyze usage data using generative AI. The feature is scheduled for release in August 2026.
With the addition of this new function, businesses can utilize generative AI to analyze their data and create six types of reports for various purposes, such as business reports for management and event effect analysis for affiliated stores. Based on data such as sales, usage status, and purchasing trends, generative AI will automatically generate analysis results and improvement measure proposals in text format, enabling swift decision-making and effective sales promotion planning.
Going forward, "GMO Digital Pay" will continue to evolve beyond a mere payment method, aiming to become a marketing platform that supports the revitalization of regional economies through data utilization and strengthens relationships between businesses and customers.
(※1) GMO Digital Lab, Inc. is a consolidated subsidiary of GMO Commerce, Inc.
(※2) Refers to electronic money issued by a business independently, limited to payments at its own stores or group companies.
(※3) Data held by businesses on "GMO Digital Pay" is targeted.
[Background]
According to a survey by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (※4), many Japanese companies cite "improving operational efficiency and resolving labor shortages" as expected benefits of utilizing generative AI. Furthermore, with the spread of cashless payments and digital tools, businesses can now accumulate various data, including sales and purchase history. To enhance business competitiveness, it is crucial not only to possess digital data but also to analyze it quickly and translate it into concrete improvement actions. Understanding sales structures, customer behavior, and store-specific usage trends holds significant value in business operations.
On the other hand, our Customer Success team has received consultations from導入 businesses expressing a desire to "conduct more detailed analysis easily" and finding it "difficult to derive specific improvement measures from the data they possess."
Based on this background, we have decided to develop the "AI Data Summary" function in addition to expanding the dashboard (※5) features to solve these business challenges.

[Value Proposition of the New Function]
1. Improved operational efficiency by reducing analysis and report creation time for operations staff
By simply selecting the purpose from the "Generate AI Data Summary" button on the dashboard, generative AI automates everything from summarizing analysis results such as buyer attributes, usage status by time of day, and sales trends, to creating draft report text. This reduces the manual time spent by operations staff on analysis and report creation, supporting reduced workload and improved operational efficiency.
Six Types of Reports by Purpose
1 For Business Reports: Creates a summary that organizes return on investment and KPI achievement rates from perspectives necessary for management decisions, usable for decision-making.
2 For Review: Organizes achievements and challenges, and creates a seamless flow to prioritized next actions.
3 For Affiliated Store Reports: Objectively organizes results and participant reactions, creating content that encourages participation in future events.
4 For External Communication: Organizes the significance of initiatives and economic ripple effects, creating copy intended for use in social media posts or administrative reports.
5 For Future Planning Proposals: Organizes recommended proposals for future design based on current achievements, creating proposals aimed at gaining approval.
6 For Progress Checks: Organizes current progress, achievement rates, and remaining issues, creating content that can be used as a basis for course correction decisions.
2. Supports swift management decisions and sales promotion planning based on data-driven analysis results
Instead of just presenting raw numbers, generative AI automatically generates text describing characteristics identifiable from the data and proposals for improvement measures, such as "Usage by people in their 20s is concentrated on weekends" or "Purchases are occurring across multiple stores in the XX category." In addition to high-speed data processing, it enables data-driven analysis that is less influenced by preconceptions. This allows businesses to utilize it for swift management decisions and effective sales promotion planning.
