GMO Brand Security, Inc. (President and CEO: Mitsuaki Nakagawa, hereinafter "GMO Brand Security"), a member of the GMO Internet Group, has jointly completed a proof of concept (PoC) for "GMO Chizai AI," a generative AI that supports the efficiency of intellectual property (IP) tasks such as patent searches and trademark evaluations. This PoC was conducted on "GMO GPU Cloud," a GPU cloud service for generative AI provided by GMO Internet, Inc. (President and CEO: Masatoshi Ito, hereinafter "GMO Internet"), in collaboration with GMO IR D, Inc. (Representative: Masato Shiraishi, hereinafter "GMO IR D").
This PoC confirmed that information organization and analysis support using generative AI can be performed while keeping critical corporate intellectual property information, such as patents and trademarks, within a domestic environment. It also confirmed that response quality and processing performance equivalent to commercial cloud-based AI services can be achieved. This demonstrates the feasibility of an environment where generative AI can be safely utilized without sending highly confidential IP data externally.
Based on these results, GMO Brand Security and GMO IR D will proceed with the practical implementation of "GMO Chizai AI" in conjunction with IP management systems. They aim to support the efficiency and advancement of IP operations in corporations and government agencies, while also providing a domestic sovereign AI foundation that organizations with high confidentiality requirements can use with peace of mind.
[Verification Results]
The verification revealed that Gemma 4 26B, running on "GMO GPU Cloud," showed response speed and quality nearly equivalent to the same model on Google Vertex AI. Furthermore, in some verification items, response speeds exceeding Vertex AI were recorded (*1). No instances of context overflow or response collapse (compaction) occurred, with all prompts yielding normal AI responses.

[Confirmed in This Demonstration Experiment]
This demonstration experiment confirmed that technological elements such as Gemma 4, vLLM, OpenCode, and Skill can operate stably on a domestic environment as the service provision platform for "GMO Chizai AI." This enables the following:
- Realization of a Domestic Sovereign Environment with "GMO GPU Cloud": Stable utilization of IP AI support in an environment optimized for GPU infrastructure operated and managed domestically.
- Complete Assurance of Data Sovereignty: Safe utilization of AI for business support while keeping highly confidential patent and trademark information within domestic facilities and under the control of the organization.
- Advanced Utilization of Open Source: Maximizing the potential of the latest open-source models to achieve support accuracy and processing performance equivalent to commercial AI services while suppressing license fees.
- Scalability and Performance Optimization: Further acceleration of large-volume literature searches and complex analysis support through parallel processing utilizing idle GPU resources (e.g., applying tensor-parallel-size 4 to the 31B model).

[Background and Objectives]
Growing Need for "Safe Generative AI Utilization" in Corporations and Government Agencies
Patent and trademark information, which forms the core of Japan's industrial competitiveness, is intellectual property of extremely high confidentiality. While the field of IP practice strongly demands efficiency improvements in information organization and analysis through AI utilization, concerns are growing among corporations and government agencies regarding the risks and regulatory issues associated with sending highly confidential data to overseas cloud services. Previously, achieving both "high processing performance" and "data sovereignty (domestic data management)" in AI utilization within Japan was considered difficult. However, realizing support accuracy equivalent to commercial managed services while keeping confidential information within Japan is an extremely important challenge for Japanese companies to safely benefit from AI.
Objectives of the Demonstration Experiment
GMO Brand Security and GMO IR D provide patent and trademark management services such as "iPRAD RYOMA byGMO," "IP Flow Manager," and "BRANTECT byGMO." They are promoting the integration of AI functions that highly support expert judgment within these services. Specifically, they will build a secure IP practice support environment based on the following roadmap:
1. Construction of a Collaboration Platform using MCP (*2): Establish an environment where IP data managed by each service can be safely referenced on MCP, enabling efficient information access by AI.
2. Provision of Business Support by "GMO Chizai AI": Combine MCP with AI agents implementing specialized IP knowledge to provide a secure AI environment that supports the decision-making of practitioners, such as patent search assistance and consideration of response plans for trademark-related tasks.
Functions based on specialized knowledge, such as assistance in patent searches and support for trademark evaluations, have already been implemented as "Skills," which are functional units for AI agents to perform specific tasks. This demonstration experiment was conducted to numerically confirm that the quality of practical support using domestic GPU infrastructure, by running these Skills on the domestically hosted "GMO GPU Cloud," is practically equivalent to commercial managed services.
(*2) Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for AI models to interact with external data sources and tools in a safe and standardized manner. It eliminates the need for individual connection development for each data source, as was previously required, and enables highly accurate responses and business support based on advanced context by safely bridging confidential information such as corporate databases and local files to AI models.
[Future Developments]
Based on the results of this demonstration experiment, GMO Brand Security, GMO IR D, and GMO Internet will proceed with the practical implementation of "GMO Chizai AI," a generative AI environment specialized for IP operations. By supporting the efficiency of patent searches and trademark operations while safely utilizing highly confidential IP data held by corporations and government agencies, they will contribute to the advancement of Japanese companies' IP strategies.
Phase 1 (Scheduled for July 2026): Start of data collaboration platform provision using MCP. An environment will be established where IP data managed by "iPRAD RYOMA byGMO," "IP Flow Manager," and "BRANTECT byGMO" can be safely referenced on MCP. This will enable AI agents to perform accurate information organization based on the IP databases of each company.
Phase 2 (Scheduled for within 2026): Start of practical support by "GMO Chizai AI." "GMO Chizai AI," which combines MCP with AI agents (Skills) implementing specialized IP knowledge, will be provided. AI will strongly support the efficiency of key processes requiring expert judgment, such as assistance in patent searches and support for considering response plans to trademark refusal notices.
Furthermore, for corporations and government agencies, on-premises and private cloud offerings in domestic sovereign configurations using their own GPU servers or "GMO GPU Cloud" are being considered, allowing for flexible responses to the needs of organizations with extremely high confidentiality requirements.
