GMO Internet, Inc. (Representative Director, President and Group CEO: Masatoshi Ito, hereinafter GMO Internet), a member of the GMO Internet Group, announced on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, that its 'ConoHa VPS by GMO' (URL: https://vps.conoha.jp/) has become the first domestic cloud provider to offer a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) (※2) server. This new service allows users to manage and operate their VPS, including creation, stopping, deletion, and configuration changes, by issuing instructions in natural language from an AI agent compatible with MCP. This enables developers and server administrators to build testing environments, check server status, organize unused resources, and modify security settings more smoothly, without needing to be aware of complex commands or API specifications. Through the provision of remote MCP servers on 'ConoHa VPS by GMO,' GMO Internet aims to realize a more intuitive and efficient server management experience suitable for the AI agent era.
(※1) Based on self-research of publicly available information from VPS providers as of July 7, 2026, regarding the launch of remote MCP servers.
(※2) MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard specification for AI agents to interact with external tools and services. AI agents compatible with MCP can access external APIs and data through this specification to perform operations.
[Background of Service Launch]
VPS is used for a wide range of purposes, including operating websites and applications, building development environments, and as infrastructure for corporate systems. However, routine infrastructure operations such as server creation, network configuration, security group management, and resource monitoring have traditionally required manual operations via management screens, command-line operations, or knowledge of APIs, making them heavily dependent on the user's knowledge and experience.
Meanwhile, in recent years, the use of generative AI and AI agents has been expanding in development and operations, leading to increased expectations for new workflows in server management and operations where AI agents can assist and execute necessary operations simply by receiving requests in natural language. In July 2025, 'ConoHa VPS by GMO' was the first (※3) VPS service offered by a domestic cloud provider to release a beta version compatible with MCP, enabling server operations through interaction with AI agents.
The remote MCP server now being offered eliminates the need to install an MCP server in the local environment, realizing an environment that can be used immediately by simply adding connection settings. Specifically, users can now manage their VPS through dialogue by instructing AI agents with commands such as, 'List all current servers,' 'Stop the test server,' 'Add HTTPS to the security group,' or 'Create a server with 1GB memory running Ubuntu 24.04.'

[About 'ConoHa VPS by GMO' Remote MCP Server]
The 'ConoHa VPS by GMO' remote MCP server allows for natural language operation of public APIs from AI agents. Any MCP client compatible with HTTP/Streamable HTTP remote MCP can be used without installing the MCP server on the user's terminal, simply by adding connection settings.
Key Features
1. No MCP Server Installation Required
Users can start using the service by simply adding the connection settings for 'ConoHa VPS MCP' to their MCP-compatible AI agent. This eliminates the need for local MCP server installation and management, reducing the burden of initial setup.
2. Usable Without Storing API Authentication Information on the AI Agent Side
Authentication and authorization are handled through ConoHa accounts, eliminating the need to store sensitive information such as ConoHa API passwords, Keystone tokens, or tenant IDs in the MCP configuration file on the AI agent side, ensuring a secure environment.
3. Full Japanese Language Support
Tool descriptions, responses, and error messages are handled in Japanese, allowing for operations using natural expressions such as 'Display server list,' 'Restart this server,' or 'Add a port for HTTPS.'
4. Compatible with Major AI Agents
Designed for use with major MCP-compatible AI agents including Claude (Web version), Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Codex CLI, and GitHub Copilot. Additionally, any AI agent compatible with HTTP/Streamable HTTP remote MCP clients can be used.
5. Covers Key Operations for VPS Management
Supports major operations related to VPS management, including server operations, network and security settings, SSH key pair management, volume management, retrieval of plan and image information, CPU usage and disk I/O retrieval, and utilization of startup scripts.
6. Design Prompts Confirmation for Critical Operations like Deletion
For operations that cannot be undone after execution, such as server deletion, the system prompts for explicit confirmation during tool execution. Users can proceed after confirming the operation details, target resource names, and IDs presented by the AI agent.

[Pricing]
The remote MCP server itself is free to use. However, standard 'ConoHa VPS by GMO' charges will apply for operations such as server creation, startup, resizing, and volume creation performed through the remote MCP server. Usage fees for AI agents like Claude will be in accordance with the pricing plans of their respective service providers.
[Future Development]
GMO Internet will continue to promote the realization of next-generation server operation and management experiences that allow developers and server administrators to fully leverage AI agents through the provision of remote MCP servers on 'ConoHa VPS by GMO.'
Furthermore, 'ConoHa VPS by GMO' also offers the 'Terraform ConoHa VPS Provider' (※4), which enables the construction and management of server environments using code. By building testing environments through dialogue with AI agents and then codifying and reproducing them with Terraform once the configuration is finalized, we support the realization of a workflow that streamlines everything from proof of concept to production deployment.
GMO Internet will continue to develop and provide server infrastructure suitable for the AI era, contributing to the creation of an environment where developers and server administrators can focus on their core tasks.
