In recent years, the number of summer and mid-summer days starting as early as May has increased, heightening interest in heat-mitigation strategies. Many people may feel discomfort due to 'sitting sweat' while sitting for long hours during commutes or desk work, noting that 'thighs stick to the chair' or 'skirts and pants become sticky.'

A survey conducted by Gunze indicates that while people feel stress from lower-body sweat in various daily situations, over 80% are not taking measures, with many saying they 'give up' (43%) or 'don't know what to choose' (38%). In response, we will introduce points for selecting innerwear perfect for countering sitting sweat and recommend specific products for the upcoming hot season.

Survey on Lower-Body Sweat Consciousness

Using the survey tool 'QiQUMO,' we conducted a survey regarding lower-body sweat, specifically sitting sweat. When asked about sweat concerns starting around May, 58% of respondents answered 'often' or 'sometimes' regarding 'a feeling of sticking due to sweat when sitting,' clarifying the reality of lower-body discomfort as temperatures rise. Many people also feel concern in various scenes like offices, trains, and restaurants, with 'back of the thighs' cited as the most common area of concern at 31%. While 19% have taken measures with clothing like shorts, over 80% have not, due to 'giving up' or 'not knowing what to choose.' Results show that while more than half find lower-body sweat countermeasures difficult, there is a strong need, yet the specific methods are not sufficiently known.

Points for Choosing Innerwear for Lower-Body Sweat

1. Choose materials with high sweat-handling capacity: There are two types of discomfort: the stickiness from un-dried sweat, and the dampness from high humidity inside clothing. Choosing based on materials is key to resolving each discomfort. - Materials with high water-absorbent and quick-drying properties reduce discomfort by quickly absorbing and dissipating sweat. - Materials with excellent hygroscopic and moisture-releasing properties reduce dampness and stickiness.

2. Choose based on your outfit: To prevent sweat stains on pants or skirts, match the length of your innerwear to your bottoms. Slips that offer longer coverage are recommended for dresses.

3. Choose based on resistance to bulkiness: If you are worried about bulkiness from wearing an extra layer of innerwear pants over your shorts, products like 'pettipants' designed to be worn alone, or those with 'cut-off' specs that prevent visible lines, are recommended.
