Nanto Corporation will celebrate its 55th anniversary in 2026, while its affiliated company, Nanto Bussan Co., Ltd., marks its 50th anniversary. The Nanto Group has designated this milestone year as the 'Nanto Group Anniversary' and is undertaking various initiatives to pass on the value of Okinawa's nature, culture, and history to the next generation.
As part of these efforts, the group has produced the comprehensive guidebook 'Okinawa Stone Culture Museum' for the museum located within Asmui Hikusu (formerly Ooishirinzan).
On July 1st, the guidebook was donated to elementary schools (Yasuda, Yonaha, Oku, Okuma, Hedo) and Kunigami Junior High School in Kunigami Village, as well as the Kunigami Citizen Interaction Center Library. We hope it will be used by local students for regional studies and independent research, deepening their understanding of Yanbaru's rich natural environment and cultural heritage, and nurturing their affection for their hometown.

This year also marks the fifth anniversary of the inscription of Amami-Oshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, Northern Okinawa Island, and Iriomote Island as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. As the natural value of the Yanbaru region receives renewed attention, we hope the guidebook will be utilized in the annual joint nature experience learning program for fourth-grade students from Kunigami Village held at Asmui Hikusu, further enriching their educational experience.

About the Museum Comprehensive Guidebook 'Okinawa Stone Culture Museum'

This guidebook introduces Asunomori's topography and geology, local flora and fauna, displayed rocks and stone tools, and sacred sites (Utaki), all illustrated with rich photography.
The appendix includes a catalog of over 1,000 species of flora and fauna confirmed through field surveys in Asunomori. The content is designed to serve as educational material for studying the natural environment and regional culture.
