HAKUBAVALLEY TOURISM conducted a 5-year review of its sustainable tourism initiatives across Omachi, Hakuba, and Otari. While low-cost measures like energy saving and waste reduction have spread to over 50% of businesses, investment-heavy actions like renewable energy adoption remain below 10%. Currently, 5 out of 13 lift operators have introduced renewable energy. The region aims to transition from simple compliance to creating economic value through environmental conservation, striving to become a 'Sanctuary for Mountain Ecotourism'.
