Toray 100th Anniversary x Hands 50th Anniversary: Combating Extreme Heat with 'Summer Shield®' Parasols

Hands Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo) is launching a high-performance parasol series featuring Toray Industries' proprietary 'Summer Shield®' material to commemorate Toray's 100th anniversary and Hands' 50th anniversary. As record-breaking heat waves continue, the role of parasols has evolved from simple sunshades to 'portable shade.' This lineup boasts top-tier performance in heat shielding, light blocking, and UV protection to support summer outings.

The first wave includes the 'Large Jump-Style Long Umbrella' released in April and the 'Wind-Resistant Folding Umbrella' in mid-May. New 'Ultra-Lightweight Folding Umbrellas' and 'Lightweight Auto-Open/Close Folding Umbrellas' are scheduled for release in June.

What is Summer Shield II?

A fabric using polyester processed yarn with Toray's special three-layer laminate structure, offering excellent heat shielding, light blocking, and UV protection.

Point 1: High Heat Shielding Reflects sunlight and creates shade down to the face. Reduces temperature rise inside the umbrella, ideal for summer outings. Point 2: Top-Level Light Blocking & UV Protection 100% light blocking, 100% UV cut, and UPF50+. Protects against strong sun and UV rays. Point 3: Water Resistance for Heavy Rain Over 25,000mm water resistance. Water-repellent grade 4+ ensures rain beads off easily. Point 4: Wind Resistance Passed wind tests at 15m/s. Uses a sliding wind-resistant frame to prevent breakage.
