In today's increasingly digital world, the unique warmth and beauty of aging created by artisans are being rediscovered as sources of comfort and enrichment in our lives.
Hankyu Umeda Main Store's 9th Floor Event Hall will host "Evolving Traditions: Master Craftsmanship to Brighten Your Life." Works by approximately 50 artisans and artists from across Japan will be gathered in one place. Six days of experiencing Japanese handicrafts with all five senses – seeing, touching, and tasting – are about to begin.
Crafts from 49 regions nationwide will be on display. Focusing on Japan's traditional "colors" and "patterns"!

Indigo dyeing, which fascinates the world as "Japan Blue." From Date Ai in Hokkaido to Ryukyu Ai in Okinawa, indigo from across Japan will be introduced.
〇 The Challenge of High School Students Carrying the Future of Awa Ai
Tokushima Prefectural Josai High School started cultivating Awa Ai 16 years ago. They handle everything in-house, from growing Tadeh-ai from seed, harvesting, drying only the leaves to make 'sukumo', to developing and selling indigo-dyed products using that 'sukumo'. During the event, their works will be on sale, and on July 20 (Mon, Holiday) at 1:00 PM (scheduled), they will present their activities at the base of the grand staircase in the Festival Plaza on the 9th floor.
*Works will be on sale during the event. Sales by the high school students are planned only for July 20 (Mon, Holiday). They may be absent at certain times.
