Introducing the 3000 Series: Hanshin Electric Railway Announces New Express Train Interior Design for Spring 2027

Hanshin Electric Railway Co., Ltd. has finalized the interior design for the new 3000 series express train, scheduled for introduction in the spring of 2027.

The 3000 series features a design that emphasizes a sense of 'openness' through wider aisles and improved visibility. The interior uses bright tones and warm textures, with red-toned bucket seats matching the exterior 'Re Vermilion' color to create a comfortable environment. Additionally, all cars (excluding those designated for reserved seating) will be equipped with 'Iko-Iko-na' multi-purpose spaces for all passengers.

Creating a Sense of 'Openness':

(1) Expanded Car Dimensions: Both car width and length have been increased compared to existing models to provide a more spacious interior.

(2) Digital Advertising Displays: New advertising displays will be installed above the doors for image and video content. Furthermore, hanging ceiling advertisements will be eliminated to improve visibility in the cabin.

(3) Wider Gangways: The width of the gangways between cars has been increased, and large transparent glass panels are used to improve visibility and create an open feel.

(4) Transparent Seat Partitions: Partitions next to the seats are made of transparent glass to enhance visibility throughout the vehicle.

Creating a Comfortable Environment:

(5) Seat Specifications: Red-toned bucket seats inspired by the 'Re Vermilion' exterior color will be standard, with partitions and handrails between 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. The reserved seat car (one of the six-car formation) will feature L/C seats that can switch between longitudinal and transverse configurations, a first for the company.

(6) 'Iko-Iko-na' Multi-Purpose Spaces: Multi-purpose spaces called 'Iko-Iko-na' will be installed in every car except the reserved seat car. These spaces feature backrests to reduce fatigue for standing passengers. The name combines the friendly invitation 'Iko-Iko' (Let's go) with 'Corner' and reflects the warmth of the Kansai dialect, offering a comfortable space for all, including those with strollers or large luggage.
