What is "Tobidashi Tobita"?

"Tobidashi Tobita", who innocently appeals for "careful driving" with big eyes, originated in June 1973 during the period of rapid economic growth when car traffic increased sharply. Upon request from the Yokaichi City Social Welfare Council in Shiga Prefecture, it was produced by the local sign production company "Hisada Kogei" as a sign to prevent the surging number of accidents involving children jumping out into traffic, and was installed in Yokaichi City (currently Higashiomi City).
