Hilton (Virginia, USA; President and CEO: Christopher J. Nassetta) has decided on the name "Umiuta Hiroshima, LXR Hotels & Resorts" for the luxury brand "LXR Hotels & Resorts (hereinafter referred to as LXR)", which will be developed by Miyajima Kaihatsu Gōdō Kaisha and operated by Hilton. We also announce that the groundbreaking ceremony was held today for the hotel, scheduled to open in 2028, with construction to commence in August 2026. This hotel will be the first luxury brand entry for Hilton in Hiroshima Prefecture and the second hotel in the prefecture, following the opening of "Hilton Hiroshima" in September 2022. Approximately 30 people, including members of the Diet, the Mayor of Hatsukaichi City, and prefectural and city assembly members, attended the groundbreaking ceremony, where a Shinto ritual was performed to pray for the safety of the construction.

"LXR" is an award-winning luxury collection brand. Through carefully selected hotels located in attractive destinations worldwide, it offers luxurious experiences that reflect the unique culture and individuality of each place. In Japan, "ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts" opened in Kyoto in 2021, with future openings planned in Tokyo, Hakone Gora, and Niseko. We will further enhance the brand's presence in destinations where guests can experience LXR's values such as locally rooted stories, traditions, and cultural experiences.
"Umiuta Hiroshima, LXR Hotels & Resorts" is planned to feature 61 guest rooms, as well as dining facilities such as an all-day dining restaurant and a bar, a spa, and an indoor pool. Located on the waterfront of Miyajima-guchi, overlooking the Itsukushima Shrine's Great Torii Gate, a World Heritage site, the hotel aims to contribute to the further revitalization of regional tourism by leveraging its excellent location as a tourist hub in the area.
About the Hotel Name "Umiuta Hiroshima, LXR Hotels & Resorts"
By combining "Umi" (sea) and "Uta" (poem), the name embodies a worldview where the sea is not just a landscape, but becomes a voice and a poem that resonates with the soul. "Umiuta" expresses the poetic beauty of the ebb and flow of the tide, which gently rises and then subsides. Embracing the rhythm of the Seto Inland Sea, this hotel, with the concept of "a place where time stops and the soul awakens," offers a journey that sharpens the intellect and awakens the soul through various stories in a land where vibrant Hiroshima and bountiful nature intersect.
