Since the opening of Hokusai-kan in 1976, Obuse Town has positioned Katsushika Hokusai as the core of its cultural tourism resources, promoting urban development as the 'Town of Chestnuts, Hokusai, and Flowers.' To commemorate the 50th anniversary in 2026, the town will wrap the Obuse Town Hokusai Hall in a giant Hokusai Wave design. The unveiling ceremony will be held on June 5 at 4:00 PM, and the installation will be displayed from June 6, 2026, to the end of March 2027. Additionally, Hokusai flags and art pieces will be installed along the town's main street to celebrate the milestone. The designs utilize ultra-high-definition digital data created through the 'Digital x Hokusai' project, a collaboration between NTT ArtTechnology and Ars Techne using patented technology. Hokusai-kan also plans commemorative exhibitions and merchandise sales, with details available on their official website.
