TOPPAN Inc., a group company of TOPPAN Holdings, has been participating in the Challenge Carbon Neutral Consortium (CCNC) since fiscal year 2024, organized by The Japan Research Institute, Limited. The consortium aims to accelerate corporate decarbonization efforts and build a decarbonized society by encouraging consumer awareness and behavioral change.

CCNC, consisting of 21 private companies including retailers, distributors, and manufacturers, is now launching the 'Minna de Gen CO2 Project 2026' in collaboration with 16 municipalities and organizations across Japan to promote consumer decarbonization behavior.

Last year's activities, which included learning contests and promotional campaigns, suggested that combining 'educational awareness' and 'promotional purchasing' is effective in raising awareness of eco-friendly products without relying solely on discounts.

This project focuses on the following key measures: 1. Expanding the scale of the learning contest 'Ecolabel Hunter 1.5C Daisakusen'. 2. Fostering behavioral change through the pursuit of learning quality. 3. Deepening understanding through the analysis of extensive purchasing data.

TOPPAN's role is as follows: - Packaging development balancing environmental performance and sales promotion: Supporting the provision of eco-friendly packaging using the 'SmartLCA-CO2®' cloud service. - Communication support to convey the value of decarbonization: Assisting in expanding awareness activities with local governments and supporting activities in stores and retail media. - Support for educational and awareness-raising activities: Utilizing expertise in information dissemination to support the nationwide rollout of educational support tools.

Moving forward, TOPPAN aims to build a new framework that integrates everything from educational awareness to sales and purchasing.
