Panasonic Homes Launches 'One-story House with a Private Court'

In May 2026, Panasonic Homes Co., Ltd. will launch the 'One-story House with a Private Court.' By providing a private court (courtyard) that connects to the interior, the design creates a sense of spatial expansion while offering a home where residents can secure privacy and relax with peace of mind.

While the new single-family housing market faces a challenging environment due to declining birthrates and rising housing prices, demand for one-story houses remains steady. The percentage of one-story homes among all new residential housing has been increasing annually, with an 8% rise at our company over the five years leading up to fiscal 2025. In response to these trends, since 2020, we have developed various products such as 'One-story Houses with Skip Floors & Large Storage' and models with insulation performance grade 7, which supports decarbonization.

With this new release, we aim to provide a home where residents feel a sense of space. Amidst the trend of homes becoming more compact due to rising prices, the courtyard, which seamlessly connects the interior and exterior, allows residents to feel a greater sense of space and ease than the actual floor area suggests.

Features of the Three 'Private Courts' Designed to be open only to the family, offering the warmth of wood and a sense of space larger than the actual size.

In our survey of those considering purchasing a one-story house, 80% of respondents prioritized 'securing privacy.' Additionally, when asked about the recently popular 'woody texture,' approximately 90% stated they wanted to incorporate wood-paneled ceilings into their homes.

To meet these needs, we propose three types of 'Private Courts'—Living Court, Bath Court, and Garage Court—that block external visibility and allow residents to relax securely. By creating a terrace under an extended eaves of up to 2.8m and using visual continuity between the wood-textured soffit of the eaves and the wooden ceiling of the interior, we create a unified atmosphere. This combination evokes the warmth of wood and a sense of expansion and spaciousness.

Each 'Private Court' can also serve as an individual sanctuary for family members while living together, enhancing the quality of daily life.
