Honda Trading and PathAhead Partner to Commercialize Next-Gen Construction Materials Using 'Rising Sand'

Honda Trading Corporation has concluded a business partnership agreement with PathAhead Co., Ltd., a startup from Honda Motor Co.'s 'IGNITION' new business creation program. The partnership aims to jointly promote businesses related to road paving and construction materials using 'Rising Sand' (patent pending), a world-first high-quality artificial aggregate developed by PathAhead from granulated desert sand.

This partnership combines PathAhead's product development capabilities with Honda Trading's global procurement and sales network. Both companies will cooperate on product planning, research, development, manufacturing, and supply to the market.

Division of Roles: - PathAhead: Development and manufacturing of next-generation paving materials and construction materials. - Honda Trading: Raw material procurement and product sales both domestically and internationally.

'Rising Sand' utilizes a proprietary technology that uniformly granulates fine, spherical desert sand of approximately 100μm into particle sizes of several dozen millimeters. It achieves approximately 2.5 times the durability of conventional natural aggregates, extending the service life of roads from about 10 years to over 20 years. By reducing the frequency of road repairs, it can lower the lifecycle cost to approximately 60% of conventional methods.
