More than 10 years have passed since the "Act on the Promotion of Bullying Prevention Measures" was enacted and implemented in 2013.

While the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), boards of education, and schools are advancing efforts to prevent bullying, MEXT surveys indicate that both the number of recognized bullying cases and the number of serious bullying incidents reached record highs in the 2024 fiscal year.

Regarding bullying countermeasures, not only school teachers and education board members but also experts from various fields—including law, medicine, welfare, and public administration—are involved, and both practical applications and research are currently progressing.

At our previous inaugural conference, we invited Naoki Ogi, Professor Emeritus at Hosei University and a frequent media commentator, to lead lively discussions.

We will be holding the 2nd Academic Conference of the Japan Society for the Prevention of Bullying among Children on July 11 (Sat) and 12 (Sun), 2026, at Tokyo Medical University Hospital (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) (Conference Chair: Jiro Masuya).

In preparation for the event, we have opened registration on our website.

For the 2nd Academic Conference, we will feature presentations by Dr. Tokio Uchiyama (Department of Welfare Psychology, Faculty of Welfare, Fukushima College), who is widely active in the field of supporting children with developmental disabilities such as autism, and Dr. Toshihiko Matsumoto (Department of Drug Dependence Research, National Institute of Mental Health, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry), who has supported numerous addiction patients and continues to share information about addiction with society. We hope this conference will serve as a forum to view the modern, diversified problem of bullying from multiple perspectives and promote deeper understanding.

We look forward to the participation of many people.
