The Kuboso Memorial Museum of Arts, Izumi will hold the Collection Special Exhibition "Hokusai vs. Hiroshige - Spectacular Views! The Ultimate Showdown" from Sunday, April 12, 2026 to Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige are particularly popular among ukiyo-e artists who painted landscapes and are known worldwide. Hokusai is the only Japanese person selected for "The 100 Most Important People of the Millennium" published by LIFE magazine. It is also known that Van Gogh copied Hiroshige's works.
This exhibition explores the charm of landscape prints drawn by Hokusai and Hiroshige, featuring approximately 100 works centered on Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" and Hiroshige's "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido (Hoeido Edition)".
