What is the appeal of "MT. DESERT ISLAND ICE CREAM"?
MDI ICE CREAM is a craft ice cream brand founded in 2005 by Linda Parker on Mount Desert Island, Maine, USA, a place rich in nature.
It began with the desire to "make the ice cream I truly want to eat," and quickly gained popularity,
becoming known as a skilled ice cream shop, even being selected as one of America's "Top 25 Ice Cream Parlors."
In 2010, former President Obama and his family visited the shop during a vacation, and the sight of the President himself enjoying coconut-flavored ice cream became a major topic in the media.
In 2019, the first store in Japan was opened in Matsumoto, Shinshu, where founder Linda once lived. Currently, stores are operating in Matsumoto City and Azumino City, and a flavor development and production system utilizing Nagano Prefecture's local ingredients has been established.
It's a Philadelphia-style ice cream with a rich, creamy texture due to its high milk fat content, yet it has a clean aftertaste.
With a focus on flavors that do not use eggs, it enhances the natural taste and aroma of the ingredients.
Furthermore, a strong characteristic of the brand is its commitment to authenticity, avoiding artificial colors and unnecessary additives.
*While most flavors are based on egg-free ingredients, there are some exceptions.
*Cookies, crumbles, sauces, etc., are generally handmade in-house, but some products may use commercially available ingredients.
